Walk Outs

People have been doing walkouts because of the new law that they made in Arizona. The new law makes it illegal to be here if you are an immigrant. In other words “ No papers, your out of here!” Students of the Phoenix Union High School District have been walking out because of the new law. Some of the students that walk out don’t even know why they are doing it. They are just following the people. They are sheep.

Pets: Adopt an Animal!

Hey people! Have you ever seen a stray animal on the street? Well if you can adopt animal do it! If it’s too hard then see if any of your family can adopt one! These animals need your help. They need food and shelter.
Animals have been abused and tortured. They probably never felt love before. They get hit for no reasons. They get abandoned when there are barely born and they can’t take care of themselves. Their parents leave them because they can’t even take care of themselves. So please adopt one of these animals! Whether it’s a cat or dog or anything it would make a difference to the animals.

Racism

I think that racism is a big problem in Arizona. For instance that new law that they are passing, it says that if police see you and an illegal they WILL arrest you, or if they think you look like an illegal they will ask for your papers. It also sucks because even if you didn’t know that they are illegal they will still arrest you. I feel it goes against most of what Martin Luther King said about racism, but yet these big political people say that they admire him and what he has accomplished but I think that that is all lies. They must be really dumb for doing this law because every body immigrated to America even if it was way back in the day it still counts because it’s the same thing people are doing today. Also most of the population here in Arizona is made up of immigrants and if they take that away from us we’ll be left with nothing. Instead of hating immigrants we should be proud and thankful for them making our country what it is today and making this country the envy of others because these immigrants don’t want to go to their country instead they chose us, us. So instead of taking away that privilege and honor we should find a way to make it better.

Raul H. Castro Leadership Conference

Saturday 4/24 a couple of lucky students were chosen to attend the first annual Leadership Conference at Castro Middle School. We had the honor of meeting Ex Governor Raul Castro and get a picture with him. He spoke about his journey to becoming a governor. He told how hard his journey was and how he chose to keep trying and following his dream. We then split up into classes and the teachers told us ways we could use our leadership in the future and use it to change our community and even our world. After we got to meet a small basketball team “Ball Is Life” they were really nice people, they signed autographs and took pictures with every one. They then showed us a bunch of neat tricks and used audience members for a couple of stunts. We had a lot of fun and can’t wait to do it again!!!

The New Law

The new law is an outrage. This new law is causing a lot of trouble at schools and everywhere else. It is discriminating to Mexicans. This new law is allowing police to be able to just stop any Mexican just because they think they are illegal. The police can take advantage of this law and it is also racial profiling.

The biggest problem facing are community today is:

Students who think they will survive our cruel world without the satisfaction of reading books.

I think students who don’t read are missing out on great adventures of the world. Students don’t know how when you read it's like a movie playing in your head. So when students say I went to Universal studios this Friday a book worm can say he/she when to Dullsville, Washington forks , Neverland, Narnia or maybe even Dracula's castle. So you can go so many places in the comfort of your own home. So when you get home think about picking up a book. There are some books that will make you even scream for more.

AIMS

Ssh. Ssh. Ssh! That’s all they said during AIMS week, but I’m just grateful its over. During AIMS week the only thing I actually like and enjoyed very much were the snacks. Although the rest of the week was torture I couldn’t spend 1 more minute in there! But it wasn’t as hard as I expected, I even thought it was easier than the Galileo. Which by the way I’m not too thrilled about it because after all the tests we’ve been through they still think we need more in just 2 weeks after AIMS! But oh well I guess we will just have to get used to that since we are going to high school next year and I can’t wait!

Baseball At Borman

PLAY BALL!!!…
The Borman baseball team has a great record and have been playing really well. The teams record is 6-2 and the team is going to play in the championship today against Harris. The team has the number one record in the league. The record is great but they need to win the championship game for it to mean something.

Wild Animals

I’ve seen some kids treat animals badly, and even a janitor too. Once there was a dog that was in school and a kid was somewhat trying to run the dog over. The dog could have been injured and the kid wouldn’t have even cared. There was another dog that I saw was being dragged. They should treat the dog carefully, you’re going to hurt its neck. It’s an abandoned dog and they still treat the dog like nothing. People should do something, it’s not right to be doing this>

aims WEEK

Last week at borman we had to take the aims test, we all work extremely hard.! There were at lot of sections in the test like math, reading, science and writing. There were two parts of the test, part one and part two. Grr it was so boring and long!! We weren’t allowed to talk at all, during the test. The teachers all said that we had to try our best and to read the questions carefully because they were trying to trick us with the tricky answers. It wasn't that hard we also got snacks and during the first day of aims we did writing even though I really don't see the point in taking it but whatever we really don't have that much of a choice so that was aims week.

The Big Game ! :)

Well O M G! Borman made it to the championship for soft-ball im super excited were the number one team in the league. If we win this it’s going to be history for us. we also have great fans that come support us. There’s even some that have came to every single game.
SUPPORT YOUR ASTRO’S!

AIMS Week

Last week we had AIMS. It wasn’t cool at all. Want to know why? Well because we had to test in different classes, we were not with our friends and the only time we could see them was in lunch. We also didn’t have electives. All day we had to stay in the classroom the only time we went out was for lunch. Another thing that we didn’t like was that we had to test in the morning and in the afternoon. That’s how our AIMS week was.

Tagging in the girls restroom

There is a lot of tagging going on recently in the girls restroom. The teachers won’t let us go to the restroom unless it is before school lunch or after school. They also have to check the restrooms before and after we go in to check if someone wrote something in the restrooms. There has also been tagging in the boys restrooms but not as much as in the girls restrooms. Either way they still don’t trust any one of us but I think the reason for that is mostly our fault. Maybe if we stop doing these kind of things we might gain back their trust in us.

Valentine's Day

Valentines day is a day for mainly couples. But we all know Borman 8th graders want to do something at school. What we should do is let students buy roses and send them to someone they think is special to them.

Singled Out

Here at Borman there is only one kid that has an ankle bracelet, and that’s me. To be honest it’s embarrassing, I noticed that some people have stared at me like I’m a bad kid. I’m really not, look at my grades A’s and B’s but I just chose to make a poor decision. I think that my mistake will be my last major mistake because spending time at Durango was super boring and I hated the food. I regret ditching school to go do what I did, if that were to never happen then I wouldn’t have this uncomfortable thing on my ankle. If it wasn’t for my good grades and my young age I would still be in there with the other two, but just because I made my mistake doesn’t mean that people have to judge me on it. I feel like everyone is going to judge me on that one thing I did. I don’t want to be labeled as a troublemaker or a bad kid. Everyone makes mistakes, I’m learning from mine. School is what is going to get me through life. It is a priority to me, I hope others can realize that too.

Opinion Article: No Skaters

When you are a new kid in school at Borman, it is hard to find friends. Well, for me it is because I’m used to people that skate and skate and skate, but people here are “gangsters” so it’s hard for me to meet new people and stuff. Is there anyone who is a skater here at Borman? Hopefully there is. If you’re a skater don't come to this school!

Friends

The best thing that you could have in your life is a friend. Friends are there always for you, well sometimes. You could trust them and stuff. But sometimes they turn out to be backstabbers. But I’m really glad I have friends. If it were to pick between a guy and a friend I would pick the friend. I love all my friends which are Mayreth, Perla, Jasmine, Maria Z.

Recycle

HEY YOU! Yes you. You filthy paper waster! You know how many trees are being killed and used for your school papers? MANY! They're dead and gone. That's sad because as you know trees are magnificent and beautiful. Also, reuse plastic people! Instead of all those plastic bags you use when you go grocery shopping buy recyclable bags. STOP using normal light bulbs and START using compact fluorescent energy-saving light bulbs. They save up to 75% more energy than the other leading brand! They're also astonishing because they have a swirly shape. Reduce, Reuse and Recycle!

Jerkin at Borman

Here at Borman we have a jerk crew called "Gross Jerks." We have a couple people in it. We can do the pin drop, reject, jerk, sponge-bob, berries and cream and footwork.

Borman Update

We're fresher than ever. We can practically wear any pants and any shirt to school. People are wearing black, white, purple and whatever they want. They don't say anything. They are not that strict about our uniforms anymore. People wear Aeropostale, Volcom, you name it. Well, that's enough so I'll let you in on the scoop later on.
